Terilyn Juarez Monroe

Terilyn Juarez Monroe is the Chief People Officer, Senior Vice President of People & Places at Varian. 

Terilyn joined Varian in 2017 and her team is responsible for translating business strategy into a people, places and culture strategy. In her role she is driving transformational change across Varian, HR and Workplace. Varian is a $3B company stretching across 33 countries around the globe with almost 10,000 employees. 

Prior to joining Varian she was Chief People & Culture Officer, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Acxiom Corporation from 2015 to 2017. In that role, Terilyn and her global team partnered closely with business leaders and their teams to design people and culture strategies that accelerated performance and created a great place to work. During that time, she drove transformational change within the HR organization and across the company, including a refresh of the corporate values and refreshing talent processes and benefits. As a result of this work, in 2017 Acxiom received five best places to work/employer of choice awards (three for the first time ever and two for the first time in 10 years). 

In 2015, Terilyn was named one of the Top 50 Global Diversity Professionals in Industry by The Economist, a list that recognizes the achievements of individuals who have made the practice of diversity and inclusion a focus of their careers. 

Prior to joining Acxiom, Terilyn served as Intuit’s Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Leader of Global Employee Engagement which included oversight for the Intuit Foundation. During Terilyn’s 13-year tenure at Intuit, she developed a breadth and depth of experience resulting from rotational assignments and increasing leadership and business partnership responsibilities across most areas of HR. She also sat on several boards and task forces. 

Prior to joining Intuit she worked for Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, Amdocs and Amdahl in the areas of executive communication and coaching, strategic business planning, mergers and acquisitions, community relations, learning and development, employee communications, and global events management. Terilyn graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor of arts in public relations and a minor in business. She and Tom, her husband of 30 years, have two children - Bridget age 25 and David age 22. She and her husband have also been small business owners. In her spare time, Terilyn loves to spend time with her family & friends, practicing yoga, paddle boarding and traveling.
